The Las Vegas Figure Skating Club implemented the US Figure Skating SafeSport Program in 2017.
U.S. Figure Skating and Las Vegas Figure Skating Club are committed to providing a safe and positive environment for its participants’ physical, emotional and social development and ensuring it promotes an environment free from abuse and misconduct. As part of this program, U.S. Figure Skating has implemented policies to address certain types of abuse and misconduct, and to reduce, monitor and govern areas where potential abuse and misconduct could occur.
Policies are in place to address the following types of abuse and misconduct:
Sexual misconduct, including child sexual abuse
Willfully tolerating misconduct
All U.S. Figure Skating/Las Vegas Figure Skating Club members shall familiarize themselves with each form of abuse and misconduct and shall refrain from engaging in such misconduct and/or violating any of these policies.
In the event that any U.S. Figure Skating member, club volunteer, official or staff observe inappropriate behaviors (i.e., policy violations), suspected physical or sexual abuse, or any other type of abuse or misconduct, it is the personal responsibility of each such person to immediately report their observations to Las Vegas Figure Skating Club regarding any SafeSport violations.
In addition to reporting within U.S. Figure Skating, U.S. Figure Skating members and staff must also report suspected child physical or sexual abuse to appropriate law enforcement authorities as required under U.S. Figure Skating rules and under applicable law. One should not attempt to evaluate the credibility or validity of child physical or sexual abuse allegations as a condition for reporting to appropriate law enforcement authorities.
Further, any person who makes groundless allegations or complaints of abuse or harassment may be subject to suspension, expulsion, or termination from the Club
